Good stopped working. Here’s what happened next.
Beyond the Good Girl is an audio memoir podcast — one woman’s funny, honest stories about a lifetime of people-pleasing, and what she found on the other side.
If you’re an overthinker, a perfectionist, a people pleaser — and you’ve started to notice that it isn’t really working for you anymore — you’ve found the right place.
I’ve been noticing her for a while now. The thermostat set to someone else’s temperature. The wrong tape I’d rather itch from than ask to change. I know her well. And every week in my newsletter I tell you exactly what she’s been up to.
You’re not on your own in this.

How to work with me
I guide women through midlife transitions using the oldest medicine I know — myth, witness, and the living landscape.
Storytelling and Narration
Book me for your retreat, event or storytelling festival. Hire me to tell a story, or poem for your guests based on a myth or folktale. Sessions tailored to your event.
Are you an author looking for audiobook narration? Now booking for September.
One-to-one journeys
My one-to-one work is for women at the threshold. Perhaps you've just had a life experience that's rocked you or maybe you've recently looked around and thought "Is this really me?" I work with myth and landscape. There are two paths book a call to find out which one is right for you.
The speakeasy
Are you working as a healer? Or a coach, councillor or other profession where you hold the stories of others? Where do you go to let your shoulders drop, to feel your mind relax. The SpeakEasy is an intimate monthly circle of professional women that meets fortnightly. Each month I provide a story frame to help reveal a new perspective on where we are on our journey as women, healers and business owners.

Gillian Wray
When I was five I rode to school on my horse and tied him up outside while I went to class.
That never happened. But I daydreamed it so often it feels like it did. I’ve always told stories — I just never told them to anyone else. I thought it was self-indulgent. A secret to be ashamed of.
Probably because Miss Black wrote on my Primary Two report: Gillian has potential but is a daydreamer.
So I buckled up and became a good girl. Stories and poetry lived on the page, private and hidden.
Until I got cancer. And got brave.
I’m Gillian Wray — poet, storyteller, and the voice of Beyond the Good Girl.
